APPLICATION FOR CARNIVAL PARADE ON JULY 5th
Welcome
to the Northfleet Carnival . Entries will be accepted on any theme but must
not be of a political or racial nature.
There is no charge for entries in the parade as a rule although commercial
entries will be asked for a donation towards our costs.
The parade will line up at Springhead Enterprise Park
from 12.00 noon
No cash prizes are given but trophies are awarded as follows

'Cyril Hardy' Cup for best overall entry
and 'Rene
Haskell' Trophy for best costume in parade.
FLOAT MARSHALL :Each
float must have a named marshall responsible for the safety of the float. A Hi-Vis
vest must be worn. These are available on loan when you collect your collecting
tins.
Floats
must be in position, at the starting point, by 12.00 p.m. for judging at 12.30
p.m. Parade leaves at 14.00 sharp. Arrives at the prom 16.00 approx

June at 8 p.m. at Shears Green Community
Centre, Haynes road , Northfleet.
INSURANCE: It is carnival policy that organizations entering the procession
must ensure that they have appropriate insurance cover to protect their persons
against personal injury. If using a vehicle this must also have appropriate
insurance to take part in the parade! A safety information sheet is included with this form
Organizations with an entry in the parade can apply to the Carnival
Association for a permit to collect along the route. This can only be done in
sealed boxes issued by the Northfleet Carnival in accordance with regulations
laid down by Gravesham Council.

have read and understood the safety guidelines and are covered under our own (or other
appropriate) insurance to enter such an event.
Please ensure the length given is accurate and includes the cab and

NORTHFLEET CARNIVAL
GUIDELINES FOR ORGANIZERS OF CARNIVAL FLOATS
FLOATS SHOULD NOT TRAVEL TO THE LINE UP BEFORE THE PROCESSION CARRYING PASSENGERS , OTHER THAN IN THE CAB. ARRANGE TO MEET AT THE LINE UP .
NO PERSON SHOULD BE CARRIED ON THE AREA DIRECTLY BEHIND THE CAB OF AN ARTICULATED VEHICLE.
NO PERSON SHOULD TAKE PART IN THE PARADE WHILST UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRINK OR DRUGS. ANY PERSON BELIEVED TO BE INTOXICATED MAY BE ASKED TO EXIT THE EVENT.
YOUNG CHILDREN SHOULD BE SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES. WE ADVISE THAT EACH ADULT SHOULD CARE FOR NO MORE THAN 6 CHILDREN WHILST TAKING PART IN THE CARNIVAL.
ADEQUATE PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PREVENT PERSONS FALLING FROM FLOATS.
ALL PERSONS SHOULD REFRAIN FROM ACROBATICS OR OTHER SUCH ACTIVITIES WHILST ON FLOATS.
NOTHING MUST BE THROWN OR GIVE FROM MOVING FLOATS.
NO VEHICLE IN THE PARADE SHOULD EXCEED WALKING PACE AT ANY TIME.
WALKERS WITH THE PARADE SHOULD EXERCISE EXTREME CARE WHEN AROUND VEHICLES, PARTICULARLY AT CORNERS.
AT THE END DISPERSAL , NO VEHICLE WILL BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE WITH PERSONS ON THE FLOAT, EXCEPT IN THE CAB.
